Wanting to switch to a new iPhone

I'm wanting to switch to a new iPhone and keep the same plan; however, it appears by switching I will lose my $5 autopay savings per month. Why does it show the $5 increase in my plan when I'm not switching plans, I'm just switching phones? If I upgrade my phone, will I really lose my autopay benefit even though I am only switching my device and not my phone plan??
