Activating an IPhone X

Hello all,

I'm an existing customer and have been for years and I've recently been gifted an iPhone X that is unlocked and was previously on Verizon (Model A1865). I checked to make sure it was compatible with the network via IMEI check and it tested true. I then obtained a new sim card from the Apple store and went to go activate it. Upon attempting to activate it fails to recognize the IMEI number and doesn't let me proceed even though the bring your own phone checker recognizes the IMEI number. I could really use any help. Thanks in advance.
