Pre owned galaxy s7 sprint lease locked

I just received a pre owned galaxy s7 I purchased through boost mobiles online store and once the phone got to the Wi-Fi connection part of the start up processes a page appeared saying it is still on lease to sprint and I need to pay or return it. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to waste my time returning it and waiting on another that works?
