text messages going to old phone.

I'm still receiving text messages on my old android phone. How is this possible if it has no service, only wifi?
My old phone is a Samsung Galaxy J7 new phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It has been a good few months, but I still have messages going to the J7.

Hey there @Trex2303  Can you please do the following  process on the Samsung Galaxy J7? 

- Turn off the Wi-Fi 
- Turn on mobile data (Located under data usage or mobile networks). 
- Go to the dialer. 
- Dial ##72786# (don’t press call). 
- Then the phone will restart. 
- Unlock the screen when is back on. 
- Wait a minute or two, a message will display on the screen saying that the service is updating. 
- Allow the process to finish. 
- It may or may not restart again in 20 seconds.

Hello Trex2303, please turn off your old phone and leave it off for a couple of days so it can lose the programming.
