Pixel 3 Support

Pixel 3 Support

Will the Pixel 3 be supported by the Boost network?

About a year ago the Pixel 2 was still not supported, but things could have changed since then. If it's not, is there an ETA on when compatibility will be implemented, if ever?

Re: Pixel 3 Support

Hey, I'm currently an owner of the pixel 3 XL and I may have your answer.

I was on a three-way call with both a head of Google as well as a head support of boost Mobile. The folks at boost Mobile said they were behind on updating their "bring your own device" list which they say will include the pixel devices. According to this man he stated that his superious said it should take a couple of weeks. I made this call last week.

In essence boost does support the pixel phone; however, they have not updated their list yet.

Re: Pixel 3 Support

So, I just bought a Pixel 3 XL and went to the boost store and they said it's not compatible. How did you activate yours?

Re: Pixel 3 Support

Ok, update. I went on there website (https://activate.boostmobile.com/bring-your-phone) and plugged in my Pixel 3 IMEI. It said it was compatible so I went ahead and called support. I told them about the situation that I've been dealing with and said they were going to mail me a new boost mobile sim card compatible with the pixel 3. They said it would take 3-5 business days so hopefully sometime this week I'll tell yall how that went down.

cheers.

Re: Pixel 3 Support

I have another update. To recap I received a compatible sim card for the Pixel 3XL. I went to the store today but we ended up having same issue that said the phone is not compatible. The boost Mobile representative got me talking to tech support and I told them to look up my IMEI on their official website. The message they got back was "congratulations your phone is compatible with our network, now all you need is a sim card" with this he realized theirs something wrong so he went ahead and sent a request to skew/ escalate my IMEA which from what he told me "forces the IMEA to be compatible. I will receive news this upcoming Tuesday. Things are looking hopeful. I recommend y'all to look up your IMEI on their bring your own device website. If it's an unlocked pixel it's compatible.

Re: Pixel 3 Support

This is great news, but they need to update their list.  I have been wanting to get a Pixel 3, but have been hesitant because I wanted it through Boost Mobile.  Wondering if this is the card in my hand that will help push this forward.  Thank you for taking the time to get Boost Mobile and Google together and make this happen.

Re: Pixel 3 Support

Thank you for that.

So I received more news and well it was quite surprising and I want to know if this just affected me or all pixel users. I never received a phone call back so I had to call them and once again explain everything from the get-go. Turns out, they manually removed my IMEI to be compatible. So now I am confused because these following bullet points contradict each other.

-For some reason, through Boost's official website my Pixel 3 XL, IMEI said it was supported and "all I needed was a sim card."

-Boost sent me a sim card and I had it tested by a tech specialist at boost saying that "This sim card IS compatible with Pixel 3 XL"

-Google has "World-wide network/carrier compatibility " with all US carriers.  (Is boost mobile the exception?)

-Boost always fails to activate the phone saying it's not compatible.

So for anyone that has a Pixel device, can you please, even if you are not with Boost, plug in your IMEI into the boost official website [https://activate.boostmobile.com/bring-your-phone] and tell me if its compatible or not, to know for sure if they manually took me out of the system because I was being too much of a struggle for them and they thought this problem could go away by removing me. Or if they officially removed all pixel devices from Boost mobile regardless of what Google promotes and in fact IS compatible with Sprint (same network that Boost uses).

Thank you for listening to my rant,

-PD

Re: Pixel 3 Support

Don't feel bad. I have called Boost Support several times, trying to get someone to give a sign of supporting the Pixel (any model). On one call they even gave me a case number (only to have the following call in inform me that that case number was invalid). I have a feeling that Google's open source platform doesn't work well with Boost Mobile in that they probably cannot force their bloatware onto the phone. So they do not get any analysis and hardware data from those phones. All I can say is that we just need to keep plugging at it.

Re: Pixel 3 Support

@ProximalDread Thanks for the info, I was considering getting this phone, so before I do I will check to make sure it is compatible with their service.
