Code 97 New Samsung J3 Emerge

My sister just activated her phone. It won't let her send texts, giving her code 97. I have boost too and I've never had the issue. How can I help her?

It also won't let her make phone calls, saying the number is incorrect when we know it's not.

Don’t you fret, @TinkerBell! We’ll get you all sorted out. Let’s check this thing out! Please try these steps on her phone:

 

- Turn off the Wi-Fi
- Turn on mobile data (Located under data usage or mobile networks).
- Go to the dialer.
- Dial ##72786# (don’t press call).
- Then the phone will restart.
- Unlock the screen when is back on.
- Wait a minute or two, a message will display on the screen saying that the service is updating.
- Allow the process to finish.
- It may or may not restart again in 20 seconds.
