Hello there Lridd850. Please follow these steps; Update your Coolpad SURF Data Profile.

  1. Access http://mobile.hotspot or http://192.168.128.1.
  2. Within the Web User Interface, go to Settings > Device > Software Updates.
  3. Click Update Profile to update.
    • Note: Do not remove the battery during Profile Updating. This may cause the Profile Update to fail.
  4. Also check for Firmware Update. If you still are having an issue then I will show you how to reset the device.

Hi, LanaConrad. Thanks for contacting us. The update time will depend on the size of the update file.

You must be connected to the hotspot device either via internet or USB connection to see your dashboard for that device when going to http://mobile.hotspot. This is very frustrating. I purchased two of the exact same coolpads and one works perfectly and the other doesn't work at all. Troubleshooting for the one that doesn't work has been challenging.

Should the firmware update take more than 3 hours?

Thanks for the reply @Royt. The problem has been solved. I should have selected "update profile" instead of "update firmware". When I chose "update firmware", it just kept saying it was working on it, or something to that effect. These are used at my work, and after 4+ hours, nothing happened and I wasn't sure if I should leave it connected or not when it was time to leave. Perhaps that can be helpful to others.
