unable to receive text messages

Hi, I am unable to receive incoming text messages.  After some troubleshooting, I've confirmed that I am able to send (the distant end receives), but no incoming messages.  Last successful text message received was last evening at 9:18 pm CST.  I am in the 63121 ZIP code area.

Contacted Boost support, Technician asked me to enter *#76786# but it didn't do any change to the phone.  It's possible that he wanted me to enter ##72786#, but that's to activate the phone on the boost network.  I did that also, no difference.  Still cannot receive texts.  Waiting for the Technician to call me back.

Technician called, walked through several troubleshooting steps.  No improvement, still no incoming text messages.  Technician gave me the customer service number for Samsung because she suspects it's an end-device error.  I don't think that's correct, it behaves like a data flow problem.

Another round of troubleshooting and I really appreciate the time invested by the Boost Mobile tech support specialist, she spent over a hour on the phone with me before we lost connection.  We walked through a factory reset as a last resort.  Unfortunately, same result.  Still unable to receive text messages.  This is simply bizarre.

Last update - on a hunch, I visited the local Boost store to pick up a new SIM designed for the updated network.  It worked.  Both incoming text and call functions returned to normal.  Boost Mobile, please let your support team know about this.  Not sure why this took place - the fiasco cost me hours of troubleshooting on the phone and days without service.  Not to mention the pain of resetting all of the accounts after a factory reset.  Please don't let this negatively impact other customers when it's likely avoidable.
