Unable to keep grandfather plan with boost

I was a customer with Virgin Mobile for years and was grandfathered into a $30/month plan with unlimited everything (including 4G for 10GB of data). Went into the store today to change my sim card because I had gotten numerous messsages about needing to but the employee said that I would not be able to keep my current plan. I was also told I had to pay an additonal $35 (I had just paid my phone bill on Oct 1) which makes me pay $80 this month for a phone I do not use a lot. I am on a budget and don't understand why I cannot keep my plan that I've had for more than 5 years.
