Account Credit/Bill Payment

I have a credit on my account that I want to use towards my bill payment. My bill was due on 7/7 and I am enrolled in automatic payments. But the payment didn’t process due to a bad debit card, so can I go ahead and use the account credit and pay the balance due? Thank You
