My phone was network locked
I brought my phone from Verizon to boost. Big mistake. Verizon’s phone are all network unlocked. Well I tried switching to att and my phone is blacklisted. So I can activate the phone with them but it will not recieve service. I contacted boost customer support and an agent told me that even though I brought my own phone from an outside carrier, when I switch to boost, the device is reconfigured and network locked to boost to “ensure devices remain active for a good period of time” and that since my phone is now on the boost network, the 12 month unlocking policy will apply to my device that was already unlocked to begin with . I asked the agent to refer me to where I could find what she had just told me on the boost website. Well I read through everything and nowhere does it state when you bring your own device it will be network locked until it is active with boost for 12 months . All she said was “ sorry, you will have to follow our unlocking policy,” and when I asked about the black list I gave the imei and she checked on it and told me “ the device actually isn’t blacklisted, You just need to wait 12 months before I can unlock the device it’s a system we have in place to prevent people from leaving boost” . Extremely unprofessional. Extremely deceptive. Now I’m stuck with a $1000 phone I cannot even use . I was not made aware of, nor was it explicitly stated that the above stated would take place when I switched to boost, I did not agree nor consent for them to network lock my device . I have tried all day to resolve this issue and the customer service is trash . Boost goes out of their way to avoid Assisting their customers. Every agent I have spoken to is in some country in the Middle East and while they can speak the English language they do not understand it at all .

Hi, Rgar702. We're sorry if you've experienced a problem while speaking with any of our customer care specialists located in the U.S. or abroad. As a global organization, Boost Mobile typically works with vendors worldwide and, no matter where a specialist is located, we're committed to ensuring that our specialists provide the highest level of customer service.
We can't lock a device that is not designed to work with our network. Only our phones are locked to our network. We are sorry for the confusion.

Understood. A blacklisted phone will still work with WiFi, but will not not be able to make calls, send texts, or use mobile data.

I am in a similar situation. I have been Boost for several years now. I contacted them today to see about unlocking the device (LG stylo 3) I was using prior to my current (LG stylo 4 plus.) I used the stylo 3 for close to 2 years before I upgraded to the stylo 4 plus. I want to sell my old device and it would make it a lot easier if it was unlocked. I was told that because I am no longer using it I could not unlock the device. I can't unlock my new phone either because it has only been used for 3 months. I wasn't leaving but maybe considering it now.
