LG Stylo 5: transfer apps to sd

Question

Ive had the Stylo 2 for 3 years then finally upgraded to this stylo 5. I cannot transfer apps to sd card like on the 2. I searched google and not much about it. I did the developer option where it has the force allow apps on sd and that did not work either. Im just not understanding why a spec would be 'up to 1tb external sd expansion' w/o being able to store the largest files (apps) on the sd like every other phone I've had. Someone please help. I do lo e this phone but that is a major pain in the a$$.

Hello, @Iggyp06. Thanks for stopping by. Whether the apps can be moved or not to the external SD card is determined by the phone's software version and the app version.

It can happen that the new version of an app will no longer allow the app to be moved. Also, your phone's software will stop an app from being moved to the SD card if it is necessary for the app to stay in the internal memory so that they can work properly without any damage or lagging.

Thats not the case here. My daughter has my old stylo 2 and its literally the same app same version of the app and it give option on the stylo 2 to 'move to sd card' but theres no option on the stylo 5. I just dont get why it would except so much expandable memory if cant put anything but texts and pictures on it. Those are the only things that have the option to store on sd and the size of those are miniscule.

Having the same problem. Absolutely loving everything about my new LG Stylo 5 expect this problem. It would be great if Boost could ask LG on how to fix this since no one is having any luck of researching the problem on their own. It should be as simple as all of the other LG Stylo's I've owned but that feature just isn't the same on the 5. Surely we can't all be missing the same step of the process since others are past Stylo owners also....

The option isn't available on the stylo 5. I contacted lg. And was told it isn't an option. And that management had been made aware of this so maybe it would be added in with the next uodate

called lg and they stated that when u update past android version 5 you can no longer move apps to sd card and photos can only be moved through file manager i am in process of trying to figure out how to downgrade android version as we speak

Well makes sense when I first got my phone I thought it had it as an option then I didn't. So maybe a hard reset putting it back to factory settings would work then just don't install any of the new updates.

I dont think that would work. These phones havent been out for a year even. Android version 6 was put out in 2015 so it seems theres no chance version 5 would have been installed as the factory default. It would probably just bring you back to 8 or possibly 7.

Very true. I'm thinking it would be a software update. Its up to LG if they want the phone to support that option

Then lg needs to fix this because before the last update i was able to see sd card when hooking up phone to pc and now it doesnt even show anymore and i was able to move apps to pc with a app but no longer grrrrr this is agravvating running out of storage seeing how i have a 256 gb sd card i should have plenty of storage

I totally agree. I just don't understand why LG thought this was a good idea... Expandable storage up to Itb and they take out main thing everyone uses sd for. I'm backing mine up and gonna reset and see what happens.
