Is all the rigamarole necessary to activate an unlocked iPhone XR with Boost?
I also seem to be one of the many having issues activating a retail unlocked iPhone XR with Boost.
My situation: I have a current family plan with four lines. I'm trying to swap out a terribly broken iPhone 7 Plus with an iPhone XR I just purchased two days ago unlocked (full price) from the Apple Store. When trying with the sim card from the iPhone 7 Plus, it doesn't activate. When inputting the IMEI number online, I get the message that it's not compatible buuuuut a retail unlocked iPhone XR should be. I also called into Boost support and the customer rep checked the IMEI again and said the same thing.
I even went so far as to try and get a new SIM card from Sprint as a few people suggested on Reddit - but they couldn't (wouldn't) sell me just a SIM card and did try to get me to switch over all of our lines to Sprint with a 5 for $100 deal. I'd rather not do that because it's a hassle and I'm perfectly happy with our plan at Boost but I'd also like to get this XR working.
I've seen the previous post mentioned a few times here about calling and asking for a tech specialist to have them run the network analysis tool (see: https://community.boostmobile.com/t5/iPhone/iphone-Xr-activation-problem/m-p/81015/highlight/true#M7073).
My question is, is this really necessary? I'm on the phone all day long at work and I'm not too keen on trying to work my way through this. Any input? Can this be taken care of here? Anyone?
